Indian Driving

I showed this video to my friend and he was like “Holy…Moly… I can’t believe people drive like this in India”.

When I use to live in India, I thought this was normal driving and everyone drove like this. If they can pass someone without getting into an accident, what’s wrong with that? As you can clearly see from the video, people do stop when they see someone coming towards them while they try to cut someone else. I guess following the rules of being polite is better then following traffic rules…. Ha Ha… just kidding.

When I moved to New York, I realized that not everyone drives like people in India do. Although New York drivers have a reputation of driving creatively at times, but they do actual follow the traffic rules!!! Few years later, I found out that Indian drivers make New York drivers look like “Gods”!!!

After being in the USA for few years and driving in different states, I went back to India to visit my family. While I was there I wanted to visit my aunt in a different state then where I was staying at (New Delhi), so I ask my cousin to drive me to her house. He said “You can take my car and drive yourself there”. I said “Yeah…. I don’t think that’s a good idea”. He said “you do know how to drive, right?” I said “Yeah but I don’t think I can drive here. I am afraid that I might get into an accident not because it was my fault but someone might just hit me”. He starts laughing and said “come on you chicken… I will take you”.

Ron And Stacey’s Wedding

It was a bright sunny day for Ron and Stacey’s wedding. Me and Gary (a great friend and my second shooter… you can check out his site – GCB Photography ) started the day at Ulta  where the Stacey and the girls were getting their hair and makeup done.

The light coming through Ulta’s huge windows was amazing. Like I always tell people I will take good light over great location any day of the week!!! On top of amazing light, Ulta had these small diamond shape mirrors on stands that you can hold to check your makeup. As soon as I saw them, I said to myself I have to use them in my photographs. So, I asked the makeup artist if it would be ok for me to move them around to take few shots and she said “sure”.

I started to move them around. The angles and light that I was seeing through these mirrors were A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!! I totally loved those diamond shape mirrors!!! I even had Gary take few shots. Take a look at Stacey’s getting her hair and makeup done photographs:

Free Online Photoshop Version

Let’s say I go to photograph a client at his house and after the shoot he wants me to edit few photographs right there and then. So, he can have the digital negatives. If I had my laptop with me which had the photoshop install, then it won’t be a problem at all. I would just pop open my laptop and download the files and then open up my photoshop. Make the edits and give to him the files.

But if I didn’t have my laptop with me, then what? Then I would have no option but to tell him that he has to wait until I can get in front of a computer and edit those few images. Although I have never been in this situation before, what if that does happen?

I started thinking there has to be a website that offers editing abilities. I asked few my tech buddies and they told me about pixlr.com So, I thought I check it out.

Y I Do Workshops

I think photography workshops are one of the best ways to meet some A-W-E-S-O-M-E people whom I can share my knowledge with. In all of my workshops there is one thing I absolute love to do and that is H-A-V-E F-U-N!!!

I strongly believe that when you are having fun you will learn a lot more. I am not sure why this works but I know it does. I have done many workshops and in every single one of them we have a blast. We talk… we learn…we laugh… we try new and creative ideas…it doesn’t feel like we are in school. Yeah… I know school is boring!!! It more so feels like we are just friends hanging out. At the end of the workshop we captured some AWESOME photographs and learned boat load of new things.

Before we apart, people tell me how much they really appreciate the workshop and they have learned a lot! Just take a look at the video below. I think you will know what I am talking about….

Break All The Rules

In photography, people tell me I should follow the “Rules”. And oh…boy there are a lot of them. There is a “Rule Of Thirds”. There is a “Rule For Balancing Elements”. There is a “Rule For Leading Lines”. There is a “Rule For Symmetry and Patterns”. There is a “Rule For S-Curve”. There is a “Rule for Viewpoint”. There is a “Rule For Composition”. And the list goes on and on and on…

Mark Kumar doesn't follow photography rules and you shouldn't either

An AWESOME Photoshoot with Heather

There come a time in a photographer’s career where everything goes perfectly. Meaning right location, lighting, model, and the whole nine yard.

Not too long ago I did a portrait shoot with Heather in NewYork at Central Park. I think that’s best location to photograph in New York. There are so many different spots to photograph at. Like the rocks, trees, street light baseball field, lakes, bridges and the list goes on and on. If you are ever in New York, I would highly recommend photographing in “Central Park”.

The lighting on that day was perfect (diffuse light – not too harsh and not too soft).

There is only one word I can find to describe Heather – AWESOME!!! I mean seriously, she is very friendly and open to new ideas. More importantly she loved being in front of my camera and my camera loved her too. We had a blast!!! Just take a look at these awesome photographs of her.

My Lunch With Shankar

Today I had lunch with a really good friend of mine – Shankar. He is a graph guru who creates custom websites. I can't recommend him enough. You should definitely check out his work (http://www.astagramstudios.com).

I think it's definitely good to have friends in different industries. That way you can get together and bounce different ideas of each other and see how each of you can help one another.

Over lunch that's what we did. We talked about different business and marketing ideas. Come to find out that we use one of the same marketing technique. Go figure…. who knew…. I didn't!

Before we left, we talked about working on a project together. With his graphic skills and my programming/photography skills. This project is going to be A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!! I am very excited about this project!!!

I would highly recommend you making friends with people from different industries. You never know when your skills could be used to work on a project together.

LimitLess Man

After watching the movie “Limitless” and learning that we humans only use 20% of our brain, I started thinking what if there R-E-A-L-L-Y was a “pill” that will allow me to access 100% of my brain. How AWESOME would that be?
