Free Online Photoshop Version

Let’s say I go to photograph a client at his house and after the shoot he wants me to edit few photographs right there and then. So, he can have the digital negatives. If I had my laptop with me which had the photoshop install, then it won’t be a problem at all. I would just pop open my laptop and download the files and then open up my photoshop. Make the edits and give to him the files.

But if I didn’t have my laptop with me, then what? Then I would have no option but to tell him that he has to wait until I can get in front of a computer and edit those few images. Although I have never been in this situation before, what if that does happen?

I started thinking there has to be a website that offers editing abilities. I asked few my tech buddies and they told me about pixlr.com So, I thought I check it out.

Break All The Rules

In photography, people tell me I should follow the “Rules”. And oh…boy there are a lot of them. There is a “Rule Of Thirds”. There is a “Rule For Balancing Elements”. There is a “Rule For Leading Lines”. There is a “Rule For Symmetry and Patterns”. There is a “Rule For S-Curve”. There is a “Rule for Viewpoint”. There is a “Rule For Composition”. And the list goes on and on and on…

Mark Kumar doesn't follow photography rules and you shouldn't either

Photo Advice – Preparing For The Wedding

The night before the wedding I like to pull out my check list and make sure I have everything I need.

Here is my check list:

  • Make sure my camera batteries are fully charged. If they are not, then put them on charge.
  • Make sure I have at least 16 to 24 AA batteries for my flash.
  • Clean my lens to make sure there is no dust them. Also, clean my camera sensor. Just to make sure there are no dust bunnies on it.
  • Make sure my strobes are working correctly. Putting out consistent light.
  • All of my CF cards empty and formatted.
  • I have all the names, addresses and times I need to have for the wedding.
  • My GPS is charged up. In case, if I need to use it. Also, print hard copy of the directions to places I need to be.
  • Have bottles of water and protein bars. During short down time, I can eat a protein bar or so and drink some water. Trust me you will need to drink some water being that you are doing all the running around and stuff.
  • Some music to listen to in the car during my travel from one place to another. Give some “DMX, JAY-Z, 50-Cents, Game, and etc”. It’s the New Yorker in me who loves RAP music!!!
  • Get my clothes ready, shoes and etc.

With my check list checked off, I am ready to photograph AWESOME wedding the next day!!!

Conversation With Tarik Jones

Few months ago, I got interested in “Fashion Photography”. It was mostly the poses that sparked my interest. I don’t mean those awkward poses where you look at the photographs and ask yourself what in the world was the photographer think. Those poses look very uncomfortable!!! I would never pose like that!!!

Instead poses that shows elegance, sexiness, and classiness. I wanted to learn how to pose like that. So, I started reading and watching videos and started to teach myself. Although I was getting good at it, but I couldn’t seem understand how to pose full body and make it look awesome.

So, I reached out to Tarik Jones. He is a great photographer and amazing person. His photographs have been published in beauty magazines. I definitely love his posing and lighting techniques. His work is flawless and stunning!!! Just take a look at these photographs:

Photo Advice – Analyzing Photos

When I was starting out, I always looked at bridal, and fashion magazines for pictures that grabbed my attention. I would go through whole magazine and folder pages that had pictures that I thought were AWESOME and breathtaking to me.

Once I went through the whole magazine, then I would go back to the first page that I folded. I would then pull out a notepad and write down everything I loved about the photos. Like – lighting, posing, and etc.

Next I would try to figure out how and why the photographer posed the model’s hands, legs, head and etc the way he did. Then I would ask myself, if I was the photographer taking that photograph – what I would do differently? How would I pose the model? How would I light the model?

If I did exactly what the photographer did, then I would be copying him which I didn’t want to do. I wanted to use his work as an inspiration to create my own poses, lighting techniques and etc. That way I would put my own creative spin own it.

For example, take a look at the photograph below and let me analyze it for you.
